The problem with one rambling list is that everyone rambles on and
on, the general tendency becomes arguing and lengthy "me too" emails
that don't decide anything, actual work drops down to a miniscule
fraction of the list traffic, and everyone who has ever been in
love with the sound of themselves typing begins to type ever more
long-winded sentences that are difficult to follow effectively or
refute meaningfuly.

Less talk.  More action.
