Here's a strawman proposal for a general mailing-list structure. I think it incorporates the essentials that people have mentioned: - a general announcement list - specific working-group lists that are closed - a mechanism for interested parties outside a specific working group to keep informed of its major issues without wading through gazillions of e-mails. p6-announce (open subscription; moderated posting; general p6 announcements, including notices about the start or end of other p6 lists) And an example setup for a specific working group would be: p6-wg1 (closed subscription; posting limited to subscribers) p6-wg1-summary (open subscription; posting limited to a chosen few wg1 members; along the lines of "This week on p5p") If temporary wg subgroup lists were spawned (wg1a, wg1b, ... wg1n), as suggested earlier, weekly summaries from each active wg1 subgroup could be forwarded to the p6-wg1-summary list. The entire community could get as much or as little information as it needed from each working group, with the overhead of having a working-group member prepare weekly summaries. And the unavoidable noise of any list would get filtered out. WalterThread Previous | Thread Next
